France: 'faux conseiller bancaire' confirms your payment
The caller knows your name, bank and recent payments and reports an attempted fraud. To 'stop' it you must confirm a payment in your banking app — which is exactly how the money leaves. French courts now rule regularly on refunds.
Warning signs
- Caller knows real account details (from a leak)
- You are asked to approve something in the app
- The caller ID looks like your bank's number
What to do
Approve nothing, hang up, call your bank on its official number and claim a refund.
